Nkosinathi Maphumulo is a relatively simple man. If you look beyond the mega superstar status that is.
A simple man who with humble beginnings having grown up in rural KwaZulu-Natal, just wanting to make music.
From the early days of his musical journey in 1995, to winning the 2004 Red Bull Music Academy, to the successes that we hear about on a daily basis now, Black Coffee is unparalleled in his field.
But, as he admits, he is often confronted with the reality of who he has become, a reality he cannot escape.
Black Coffee shared with the media what it’s like to be him at the Axe Black by Black Coffee launch last week Friday.
But no one could’ve envisioned the insurmountable force that he would one day become.A force that we now know, as Black Coffee.
Black Coffee has collaborated with the legendary male grooming brand to create his own signature scent.
A simple man from KZN, who has stood boldly enough to have his face on a deodorant can by one of the most iconic male grooming brands in South Africa.
The collaboration between Axe and Black Coffee has also seen the two brands come up with the campaign, Find Your Magic, a call to action for all young South Africans to find their inner magic and shine like never before.
Speaking to the Daily Sun at the media launch of Axe Black, Black Coffee touched on what it means for him to have become who and what he is.
“It’s really amazing; it has been an amazing journey. I’m inspired to do even more things. This is all amazing but there is so much more that we can do,” he said.
Meanwhile, Axe Brand Manager, Ryan Fauconier explained why they chose Black Coffee for the partnership.
“There is a lot of artists but there’s also a lot of brands out there that want to partner with and sign different artists. But where the magic comes in is that we identified something that both brands (Axe and Black Coffee) really stand for. Black Coffee is really invested in giving others an opportunity and uplifting the youth; that’s very much where we found unison in our message. Axe Find your Magic is really about giving people an opportunity to change their lives for the better, giving them a platform to perform,”.
