Transgender woman stores her sp#rms

A New Zealand transgender woman is taking steps to make sure she can still have a child that is biologically hers when she finally becomes a woman.

According to New Zealand Herald, Lea Membrey (20) has spent the last two years shedding the male body she was born in. Ever since she was a kid, Lea says she wanted to be a girl.

That’s why Lea’s making sure she’s got some saved in a sp#rm bank.

Lea, who hopes to become a communications student, said: “I definitely want to have kids within the next 10 years and having a child that is biologically mine is so important to me.

“Although I don’t want children anytime soon I do want them to be naturally mine. I think it is incredible to know I can still have a baby that is half my DNA.

Thanks to bre@st implants a year ago, Lea is one more step along the path of transforming herself into a gorgeous woman.Part of the process of making the change from man to woman is increasing the levels of the female hormone oestrogen and lowering the more male hormone, testosterone. Once this process is underway, less and less sperm is produced.

“I had to bank the sperm before I started intensive hormone treatments because once you begin that your male organs eventually stop working altogether.”

Lea herself will not be able to conceive inside her own body as she does not have a uterus. But with the help of another woman’s uterus, she may yet achieve her dream of being a mum.
