A 26-year-old woman was arrested at OR Tambo International Airport in possession of tik with an estimated street value of R1 million, cops said yesterday.

Brigadier Vishnu Naidoo said she was caught shortly after she landed at the airport from Dubai on Wednesday night.

“Members of the ORTIA K9 unit found the drugs hidden in a false compartment of her luggage during a routine search.”

She was charged with dealing in drugs and would appear before the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court next Thursday.

She was the third person arrested for drug possession at the airport in the past five days.

At the weekend, customs officials caught another woman in possession of 32.5kg of tik (crystal methamphetamine).

On Monday, the same K9 unit arrested 29-year-old Adan Mahammed Hussein, travelling on a Norwegian passport, after they found him in possession of Khat with an estimated street value of R51 000. He had already appeared in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday and would appear again on Thursday.
