Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Brighton Mhlongo’s friends and family were worried that his wedding would not take place after he was bust for speeding on Friday.
Sources close to the soccer star say he was driving at 173km/hr on the Golden Highway in Joburg because was rushing to prepare for his traditional wedding, which was to take place the following day. The wedding, which will be further celebrated in Protea Glen on Sunday, was attended by Mhlongo’s teammates Oupa Manyisa, Menzi Masuku and Patrick Phungwayo to name a few.
Fortunately, he was released on the same day of his arrest and everyone was relieved.
According to a close friend, Mhlongo is excited about the big step he has taken in his life. “He is a responsible man,” says the source. “This is the greatest step taken by the young man. His teammates were in Block C in Mabopane yesterday to support him.”
