ANOTHER Mzansi cop was killed yesterday, bringing the number of killed officers to four in four days. Constable Lesibana Seolwane (35) of Temba police was fatally shot in a shop robbery at Sekampaneng, north of Tshwane, at about 2am yesterday.

He and another cop came under fire on arrival at the crime in progress at Sekampaneng, north of Tshwane.

Cop spokesman Mack Mngomezulu said the shot policeman died on arrival at hospital.

Mngomezulu said a suspect who died on the scene was Oupa Chauke (26).

An injured suspect ran away with a gun, but was arrested on a tip-off.

“He will appear in the Moretele Magistrates Court on Monday.”

Tshidi Seolwane, the constable’s shocked sister, said: “We depended on him for support. He protected the family.”

A 36-year-old policeman was shot dead at Chris Hani Crossing in Vosloorus at about 7am on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, Warrant Officer Petrus Holz (50) of the Hawks was fatally stabbed on Cape Town’s N2 highway near Macassar.

He was driving to work when his car hit a man-made obstacle on the road. Two men attacked Holz when he stopped to change two flat tyres. Personal items were stolen.

Acting Western Cape police commissioner Major General Thembisile Patekile said yesterday two men are due to appear in the Khayelitsha Magistrates Court today.

In Joburg, Metro cop Simon Mabatamela (59) was shot and killed by a thug after a robbery. Mabatamela had just finished work and was shopping at the Rosettenville Junction Mall.

The attacker shot him twice in the head and once in the leg.
