After co-producing and directing the Emmy award nominated TV comedy Late Nite News with Loyiso Gola‚ comedian Kagiso Lediga is set to make his film directing debut.
The comedian is currently shooting a film which will be his first in the director’s chair‚ and will see Kagiso star opposite actress Pearl Thusi in the lead role.
Speaking to TMG Entertainment on Thursday‚ the film’s producer Tamsin Andersson revealed that the film currently has the working title of Catching Feeling and is described as a “dark romantic comedy“.
The film is currently being shot in and around Johannesburg and is set for release next year. It will be released under Kagiso’s production company Diprente.
“Kagiso is excited about the film. He has experience directing on Late Nite News and also Bantu Hour but this is his first feature film and he is excited‚” Tamsin said.
Talking to TMG Entertainment this week‚ Pearl was shy to reveal much detail about her role but said she too was excited to be part of the project.
“I’ve really enjoyed my time on set so far. It’s really a great team‚” she said.
The project is the latest major film role for Pearl‚ who last month landed a starring role in the upcoming international heist film‚ The Blue Mauritius.
