A man was left critically injured this morning after he was hit by a truck on the R21 Olifantsfontein, East of Johannesburg.
ER24 paramedics arrived on scene and found provincial services busy treating the patient.
On assessment, paramedics found that the man had sustained severe injuries to his head and chest and was in a critical condition.
Treatment and advanced life support intervention were immediately performed on the patient to stabilize his vital signs.
Once treated, the patient was airlifted by a medical helicopter to a private hospital for urgent treatment.
The diver of the truck fortunately escaped without injury.
The patient explained that he had suffered an apparent seizure. He then stated that he climbed out of his vehicle and was stuck by the truck.
Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
