A man was arrested on a charge of breach of the peace after allegedly naming his dog after the president, according to police in Nigeria.
Ogun police said that they have arrested 30-year-old Joe Fortemose Chinakwe, after being accused of naming his dog after President Muhammadu Buhari.
In court, Chinakwe pleaded not guilty to a charge of breaching the peace. He was booked into jail, and his bail was set at N50,000 ($160).
Chinakwe said that he was surprised to be arrested for naming his dog Buhari as he did so because he admires the president for fighting corruption.
He blamed illegal immigrants for calling the police to complain about his dog.
However, police said that people were angry after Chinakwe wrote Buhari on both sides of the dog and walked with it in the street.
