KWAITO heavy- weight L’vovo Derrango has had hit after hit since first appearing on the scene 10 years ago.
The star – who rose to fame with his Bayang’sukela single – was discovered by the evergreen Zakes Bantwini.
This song was followed by another single titled Resista, on which he collaborated with Zakes, and the song literally launched the beginning of his rosy music career.
And 10 years later, the Palesa hitmaker is still a household name.
L’vovo – whose real name is Thokozani Ndlovu – is set to celebrate the 10-year milestone by recording a live DVD at the Durban Botanical Gardens in KZN on Saturday.
He told SunBuzz: “I’m excited that my dream of recording a live DVD will become a reality on Saturday. I will feature all the musicians I’ve worked with over the years.
“These artists include DJs Bongs, Merlon, Sox, Tira, Black Motion, Big Nuz and many more.
“The aim is to show them that I appreciate their support and the excellent work they have done with me.”
The star has seven albums under his belt.
“I have achieved a lot. After changing record companies often, I have finally managed to form my own record label company called Derrango Records.
“I have also won several awards in my career. These include the Best Kwaito Award and Metro FM’s Song of the Year title,” he added.
L’vovo rocketed onto the music scene in 2006 while he was still a student at the Durban University of Technology. He promised his fans lots of fun on Saturday.
– Tickets for the show are available at Computicket. General tickets cost R150 and R500 for VIPs.
