I HAD to clean my girlfriend’s poo in hospital while nurses were sleeping!”
Isaac Skhosana from Majakaneng, North West is angry. He said his girlfriend, Patricia Hlalele, was admitted to Dr George Mukhari Hospital in Ga-Rankuwa on 18 March after being diagnosed with TB.
“She was doing well when I took her to hospital but now she can’t even go to the toilet by herself,” he said.
“I usually sleep in the hospital’s waiting area because I don’t have transport to get home after I visit her at night.”
He said Patricia phoned him at 3am on Wednesday. She was crying and needed help. He said when he got to the ward the nurses were sleeping, so he went straight to Patricia’s bed.
“I was welcomed by the smell of poo. My girlfriend was lying in her kak,” he said.
He bathed her but a nurse told him to go away as he wasn’t supposed to be in the ward at that time.
Health spokesman Steve Mabona said the hospital conducted an investigation into the matter but no form of negligence was found.
He advised Isaac to lodge a complaint in writing to the quality assurance manager at the hospital or to phone the department’s call centre on 0860 011 000.
