BOITY has been slammed for raining on AKA’s parade. The Club 808 presenter started singing the praises of her boyfriend, Cassper Nyovest, just before AKA hit the stage at the MTV Africa Music Awards to collect his award for best collaboration.
Before announcing that AKA had won the best collaboration award for his song All Eyes On Me, Boity said: “Cassper was not nominated. You know he wins everything he’s nominated for.”
When AKA, DA L.E.S and Burna Boy all went on stage to accept their awards, AKA walked right past Boity and stood on another stage. He then went on to thank his girlfriend, DJ Zinhle, for giving him a child.
When contacted for comment, Boity said: “All I did was say what I was told to say. I was doing my job.”
She denied that she had any beef with AKA.
“Whatever is happening or has happened between Cassper and AKA has nothing to do with me,” she said.
Viewers soon took to Twitter to comment on Boity and AKA’s behaviour. Teddy Geldart tweeted: “The way AKA didn’t even give Boity any time of day. Zinhle would never have stooped so low.”
Real Tshemedi wrote: “Boity taking oath: ‘I promise to hate and stay away from AKA’.”
Joe DaMC tweeted: “Gotta admit though, AKA handled that awkward moment like a G. Removed himself from the situation and made Boity seem childish.”
Miss Nadia M wrote: “Boity was being childish. When Cassper and AKA make up, you will look like a damn fool.”
