When the turned him down the angry man got violent. Screaming, “Zuma, give me my money!” he picked up a big rock.
According to security guard Mbuyiseli Blou (52), there was glass everywhere after the man had thrown the huge rock. It happened at the Nedbank and Standard Bank ATMs at the Big Daddy Liquor Store in Mabandla Road, KwaNobuhle, outside Uitenhage, Eastern Cape in the early hours of Saturday morning.
“I saw him sitting down for a long time staring at the money machines. Then he picked up a big rock,” said Mbuyiseli. “I thought he would sit on it. But he lifted it up with both his hands and went towards the Nedbank ATM. “He shouted, ‘Zuma, give me my money!’ and threw the heavy rock at the ATM. Then he picked it up again and threw it at the Standard Bank ATM.”
The guard said a group of four drunk men coming from a tavern nearly moered the man. “They wanted to beat him up because they couldn’t draw money. I begged them not to harm him,” said Mbuyiseli. “He was so stressed because of his zero bank balance.”
The man’s sister (44) said: “When he is drunk he always shouts at the president. He is unemployed and he wants Zuma to pay him.” She said he often goes to Joburg because he wants to write movie scripts, or be an actor or singer. “He believes film producers in Joburg cheated him and are making millions out of his work.”
