After being romantically linked to musicians Jub Jub and Cassper Nyovest over the years, Swazi-born beauty Amanda Du-Pont declares that she has finally found the ‘love of her life’.
The Skeem Saam actress has for months been dating beau Shawn Rodriques and she told Sowetan LIVE the following on her current hot romance:
“Romance is beautiful. It’s great. I’m very blessed. I have found the love of my life.”
2016 has seen Du-Pont announce a number of exciting fashion partnerships and she exclusively reveals that in the coming weeks she will announce a collaboration with international luxury bags and accessories brand Sprayground.
The New York-based label renowned for its vibrant graffiti urban backpacks has in the past famously teamed up with big names ranging from filmmaker Spike Lee to R&B crooner Chris Brown and NFL player Odell Beckham JR. Du-Pont shares that she will work with Sprayground in designing a limited-edition backpack collection.
“It will be very exclusive. I’m only releasing 100 bags. The brand has been worn by the likes of Chris Brown and NBA players. It’s a very street style hip hop bag. They were looking to do a collaboration with someone here at home and as a result we have my own special Amanda Du-Pont Sprayground backpack,” Du-Pont excitedly divulges.
In September, Du-Pont will release a five-piece shoe collection in collaboration with footwear brand Footwork, with a pair costing between R400 – R1000. Available in multiple colours such as black, tan, nude, baby pink, white and khaki; Du-Punt points out that the inspiration behind the line is the powerful women in her life with each style named after them – her grandma Princess Ncabile Dlamini, mom Antoinette as well as sisters Kim and Adele.
“The shoes represent powerful women and these women helped me not to give up. On each box that the shoes come in will be a quote from myself, quotes that I use for daily motivation and things about my family members that has helped me push through,” Du-Pont explains.
“I try to make the shoes as comfortable as possible; it’s shoes that I wear myself everyday. I found a gap and there are certain styles of shoes that I think are in fashion. Sometimes with things that are in fashion you don’t want to spend too much on a style that is going to be there for a month or two. You want to have affordable pieces that you are going to switch and be stylish at the same time.”
As far as her villainous role on Skeem Saam is concerned, Du-Pont teases that viewers can expect vixen Lelo Mthiyane to be back to her conniving ways in the upcoming storyline.
“Lelo gave birth to a yellow-bone now [laughs]. She’s out of prison and she’s back. She’s worse than ever. She’s going to traumatize poor Lizzy on that wheelchair, that girl will want to walk shem,” Du-Pont jokingly quips.
As Du-Pont celebrates 10 years in the industry this year, she holds that she is at the top of her game. Currently, she is busy shooting an adventure food show called Biting About with heartthrob Janez Vermeiren set to premiere in October on SABC 3.
“God has been incredible. I have been praying for a change of status and I have been praying for more, and he has done exactly that. Everyday is a highlight. Everyday I’m living my dreams,” Du-Pont affirms.
“People think I arrived in the industry yesterday, it has been 10 years. My greatest lesson has been never give up. I have had so many no’s or things not working out. Eventually, everything that you envisioned starts to happen. I now realize that my dreams and goals were not crazy. They seemed crazy at the time because nothing was happening. Don’t give up, be persistent
